Choosing "The" Dress

Because I plan weddings, I found myself having only a few ideas of what I wanted my wedding dress to look like.  I did a test run with my Matron of Honor to try on dresses, and we pulled such a variety of dresses! It was necessary that I did that so I didn't go and try on 20 dresses when my mom came to town.  I just wanted to narrow it down just a little bit. With the help of my sisters, I was able to get my selection down to 5 dresses for when my mother came to town.

I couldn't imagine making this selection without my mother, and I was so excited to know she be in town to help me "Say Yes to the Dress!"

With my mom, sister - Delina, cousin - Lynnisa, daughters - Jada & Jaylin, and niece - Deja all by my side, my cousin - Quiana available via Facetime, and the remainder of my bridal party available via our bridesmaids group chat I was ready to begin!

So many things were running through my head as I begin trying on dresses, like:

+how does this make me look
+how is the detail on the dress
+do I want my back out
+should it be more of a fitted dress
+fairytale princess look
+lace
+more or less beading

What was I to do? My support team was so divided, and they were quite entertaining during it all.  The faces they were giving me in the store, the faces I was getting from Qui via Facetime #priceless, and the comments from my group chat, haha I love these girls!

They were saying things like:
W: That bow....
A: I'm not digging it
W: At all!
K: I don't like the last two
A: I kinda like that last one... but that bow is a huge negative
W: I agree. That bow is slightly disrespectful

W: That back is the business! I like how it goes into a deep V

Many nods, many oh no's, and the ones I seemed to like no one else did. I didn't want to get a dress that no one else liked.  We were down to two final dresses and I had them hanging up, but I wanted to make one final look.  I looked through a few more bridal gowns and I came across one that I had tried on the last time I was there but the consultant had failed to pull it out.  She asked if I wanted to try it on and I was hesitant because I had already chosen my final two dresses. Everyone insisted that I go ahead and try it on.

I am soooo glad that I tried it on! I Said YES To That Dress!  It's so hard to believe I almost didn't get that dress. Everything about it felt right. It truly made be feel like a bride. Then the bridal consultant placed a veil on my head. Ahhhhh, I couldn't stop smiling! It was final and I was so ecstatic about choosing my dress.

Can't wait for you all to see it!

In February of 2013, I packed up me and the girls with what would fit in the trunk of my car and I moved to Texas for a wonderful job opportunity. Who would have thought that within a week of being there that I would have met the man that I would spend the rest of my life with.
